Original WWII German Flieger Kappmesser (KMF), the gravity knife that was issued to Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger paratroopers and aircrew. This is the early 1st pattern, with carbon steel fittings. Carbon steel 1st pattern gravity blades were only produced for a short period of time in 1942 before the production for the 2nd pattern gravity knives began.

The gravity knife is in great condition. The gravity knife mechanism works perfectly. The blade is scratched from war time use but the KMF logo is still visible. The interior has a bit of surface level rust that has built up over the years but it doesn’t impact the function of the knife. This blade has 2 different stamps on it which is pretty common for German gravity knives. Parts from different batches were used when constructing gravity knives.
